Seems like Texas Poker Bill that legalizes and licenses poker in this state, gains some support from local administration. At least, it’s known that the House Licensing and Administrative Procedures Committee reviews the first variant of this Bill that started legislative session. As project’s sponsor and representative Jose Menendez says, "We want to make sure when poker is being played, it's played in a place that's safe". Currently he’s being supported by a group of players or poker players’ organizations who claim they want to have safe places they can trust. Last Wednesday the Committee’s members had an appointed meeting with these representatives where they discussed ways if creating a safer society. Poker has always been popular in Texas and today there are many underground poker games, but the majority of players feel the risk when they play poker in such places and so they claim having security places where they can play poker is a must. The main reason for asking for legal help were several causes of robbery. People are really scared and do not want to deal with it and want to know they are protected while they play poker. Currently according to Texas laws poker can be legally played at home in case it makes no profit from this. This means if house owner takes at least a rake, whole game breaks the law. |
