It is reported that PokerStars has signed the Brazilian poker professional, Alexandre Comes, as part of its team. Alexandre Gomes is a 25 year old poker pro from Curitiba in Brazil. Although only in his mid twenties, he has already made a name for himself in the poker arena. It is also interesting to note that Gomes graduated from law school in 2005 and then became a partner at a corporate law office in Brazil. Once online PokerStars poker tournaments caught his attention and he started playing online, he began to win big money. Gomes then left the legal field to try his hand at being a poker pro. When logged on at PokerStars his name is "Allingomes". Poker Stars maintain that Gomes was making regular winnings at the largest PokerStars events by the beginning of 2007. One of his most notable wins at the PokerStars site occurred in February 2008 when he won $65,333 at the Wednesday Hundred Fifty Grand. WSOP gold bracelet … Gomes' poker success may have surprised even himself as at the 2008 WSOP he became the first Brazilian to win a WSOP gold bracelet. Out of over 2300 other players at the $2,000 No Limit Hold'em event, he came out tops. At this event in June 2008, he won $770,540. It is reported that once Alexandre got the poker bug, he has dreamed of becoming a part of Team PokerStars Pro and also of winning a WSOP bracelet. Now this dream has come true. A World Series bracelet is quite a considerable achievement, especially for someone of his age. Gomes has now joined the PokerStars Team and there is the general impression that he is just at the beginning of his poker journey. |
