Tokwiro Reveals the Truth on Washington Post Pages

Recently Washington Post has released an open letter from Tokwiro named "Tokwiro Enterprises Responds to Investigation”. This letter is full with comments made by Paul Leggett who occupies the job of Chief Operating Officer. Leggett replied to the questions of newspaper representatives and threw light upon recent scandals with popular casinos involved – Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet. As both are in property of Tokwiro, this scandal couldn’t have failed to touch the company.

The first thing mentioned was concerning Joe Norton. A former Grand Chief of Kahnawake tribe is, in true, the Tokwiro’s “sole proprietor”. This was really unexpected news as Norton, as a chief of Kahnawake tribe was responsible for providing licenses to the majority of online poker rooms. How could a person occupying such position at the same time own 2 popular poker rooms is still unclear. Even Michael Delisle, current Kanhawake Grand Chief, in his interview to Washington Post said he was surprised to hear this news.

Now scandal around Absolute Poker is almost over, but the person who has caused it and responsible for all harm made to online poker room's players still haven't been shown to publicity. In his statement Leggett says, Tokwiro created own research group, found the cheater who was one of the company’s consultants and fired him. In addition to this Tokwiro has completely changed all company’s management and now they try to regain poker rooms’ good names. However, this statement hasn’t satisfied the majority of poker payers and many are outraged and want to see the real person, who stands behind the incidents with Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet. “Until the guilty person is not shown to publicity, it feels like Tokwiro was in a deal with cheater” – that is what players and some journalists say.

In the statement released by Absolute Poker and Ultimate Bet COO is mentioned, Tokwiro has made an agreement with cheater. Tokwiro doesn't prosecute cheater and in his return cheater returns all funds stolen and provides information about the way funds have been stolen. Now Tokwiro reorganizes own safety system and makes reimbursements to players' accounts. The amount of refund has already exceeded $1.6 million. The total sum of funds stolen from players of Ultimate Bet only reaches a sum 10 times higher than this.

Ultimate Bet has another story of cheating that started in 2004 (the online poker room was purchased by Tokwiro in 2006). That time the cheater was a famous player Russ Hamilton, the winner of WSoP (World Series of Poker) Main Event in 1994. This time Tokwiro disclaims, Hamilton has ever been working on Tokwiro since the time of purchase. According to the statement, Tokwiro only used Hamilton's references to the players from his website to Ultimate Bet.

A week ago two online poker rooms, Ultimate Bet and Absolute Poker, merged and formed CEREUS Poker Network. This creates one of the most powerful players on the market as CEREUS is already ranked seventh in terms of player traffic (information by PokerScout). In last week more than 2,150 ring game and over 1,585 cash game players have visited CEREUS. No Limit Texas Hold’em, the most popular poker game, has been played 980 players. By the way, #1 poker website according to PokerScout is famous Poker Stars, accumulating averagely 19,200 cash players each week. Full Tilt Poker with 8,200 cash players a week ranked second.

In his interview Leggett apologized and says the company already voluntary paid millions of dollars to cheated players from own pockets and established the security system of tomorrow making Tokwiro’s poker rooms to be the safest in the industry. Many have anticipated Tokwiro will have to sell their license to cover the gaps in budget caused buy mass payouts (Tokwiro has returned more than $20 million in total), but that will not happen. Tokwiro managed to win $15 million judgment against Excapsa, the previous Ultimate Bet's owner.
