Second WSOP 2009 Bracelet for Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey who has recently taken a winner’s bracelet in World Series of Poker 2009 Event #8, once again is on the podium. The gap between the wins is just 9 days.

In Event #25 Ivey showed his real poker nature and outlasted as many as 375 poker players at $2,500 Omaha/Seven Card Stud Hi-Low-8 or Better. In final table he managed to overcome such famous players as Steve Wong, Dutch Boyd, Carlos Mortensen and Jon “PearlJammed” Turner. This win allowed him taking the biggest part of tournament’s pot and Ivey took home generous $220,530 out of $864,800. This is the seventh bracelet in career of Phil Ivey.

With this win Ivey joins Brock Parker who has been the only double WSOP winner. Parker managed to win events #14 and #19. With points that Ivey’s got for winning his second bracelet he should overcome Parker in total rankings and make one more step towards the Player of the Year rankings, however, both Parker and Ivey are yet trailing $10,000 Ville Wahlbeck, the winner or $10,000 World Championship of Mixed Games. In 2008 the only double winner John "the Razor' Phan wasn't able to take the Player of the Year title that was won by Erick Lindgren.

Ivey started his play in short stakes during Saturday’s final. When pots became larger he made an attack and soon was in the leading position at the table. Ivey was holding almost a half of chips on the table, but pretty soon he was attacked by Lee, who scored second in the result.
