Poker is More Game of Skill than of Luck Due to Statistical Analysis!

Many of us still have no idea whether poker is a game of luck or skill. Even though part of gamblers insists this is just pure luck and it’s an issue of destiny whether they are going to win today or no, the others hope on their skills only and try apply various strategies to win.

Statisticians were also interested in this issue and so they used data that had been kindly presented by PokerStars and established tight connection between win and cards selected by player due to own skill.

Citigal Company specializing in software and Internet security has reviewed and analyzed more than 100 million poker hands and found interesting fact. Approximately ¾ of all hands were over before showdown, when players were able to see only their own hands. Then statisticians analyzed cards that went to showdown and more than a half of games were won by inferior hand while the best one had been simply folded! This means that even a player was lucky enough to get the best hand he played till the end and won only in one game from eight. Other 7 winning hands were decided only basing on skill of player.

Certainly, the analysis is yet raw and study will be continued, but this is huge proof and relief for thousands of poker players that claim this game to be a game of skill, not luck or destiny and so final outcome depends on your personal skills only.
