WSOP Main Event Final Table Has Been Set

The nine finalists for the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event have been determined.

The eleven days of the WSOP 2008 Main Event are over and nine players have emerged victorious. These nine finalists are due to meet again on November 9, 2008 at the Rio in Las Vegas for the WSOP final table. This promises to be a big event. The players will now have a break until November, during which time they may rest or practice their poker skills or study their opponents' method of play.

It is interesting to note that the total prize money for 55 events of the 2008 World Series of Poker was $180,666,773.

The names of the nine players set for the final table, together with their stack of chip amounts are as follows:

Seat number 1: Dennis Phillips 26,295,000

Seat number 2: Craig Marquis 10,210,000

Seat number 3: Ylon Schwartz 12,525,000

Seat number 4: Scott Montgomery 19,690,000

Seat number 5: Darus Suharto 12,520,000

Seat number 6: Chino Rheem 10,230,000

Seat number 7: Ivan Demidov 24,400,000

Seat number 8: Kelly Kim 2,620,000

Seat number 9: Peter Eastgate 18,375,000

One thing that all these players have in common is that none of them already have a WSOP bracelet to their name. On November 9, these players will reconvene and use all their poker skills to fight for their part of over $32 million in prize money. The way in which the final table will be played is that these nine players will play until only two players are left. As explained on the WSOP official site, "The final 2 will finish play on November 10th and then the event will be broadcast by ESPN on November 11th".
